As I wrote last Friday the latest issue of Headline contains this article by me about blogging. I wrote the article about four months ago now and it's interesting how my perspective on blogging has changed. Back then i wrote "Here you will hopefully not find my 'Dear Diary' entries" but now i'm starting to feel that was a little narrow minded. Increasingly i'm realising that one of the most important and refreshing aspects of the emerging church movement is getting rid of the sacred, secular divide and having a more holistic approach to ministry and discipleship.
At first I was rather sceptical about those involved in this movement whose blogs included personal details, now i see that it is important not just to ensure a holistic approach but also to develop a sense of trust and community (however small) amongst all those involved in this dispersed non-geographical network.
And on that note went to see the Basement Jaxx in Leeds last night and it was good but the venue was pants... it was so hot. think of a small refectory in leeds student union, then add a few hundred people and loads of stage lights on a hot summers evening and i suspect you can now also imagine the sweat dripping off the roof... nice! but like the faithless concert i went to in april it was such high energy and my reflection like then, is of the awful contrast between sunday morning's worship and sunday's evening concert...
very jealous
