Totally amazed by Coldplay's new album at the minute. It's so beautiful. "A Message" in particular blows me away- track 8 if the CD is to hand... "My song is love / Love to the loveless shown / And it goes on / You don't have to be alone"
As soon as i heard it i thought "hmm... i've heard that before" Hymns and Psalms 173, Samuel Crossman, "My Song is love unknown / My Saviour's love to me / Love to the loveless shown / That they might lovely be"
Chris Martin was forced to go to church as a wee lad and this was one of the hymns they sang a lot... on a slightly less spiritual note apparently he wrote this song naked, Chris Martin that is, not Samuel Crossman...
Having posted yesterday and being a fellow Headway/Methodist geezar (with a fine blog), I've added Dave Faulkner to the blogroll.

Pete was asking where i found out about Chris Martin naked and all that... check out the Observer article on the album here or the interview in Rolling Stone here
Hi Phil,
So how did you find out about Chris Martin writing Message in the nude? I am thinking of writing an article on the album's theology or biblical intertextuality and would be interested in any commentary from the band themselves...Fix You is my absolute favourite!!! I love playing it at full blast on the top of the Edge above Cliff - sun or rain matters very little! Lights to guide me home...Might even play it all the way to Taunton on Sunday!!!
