Normal church

Next year my job expands a little. Part-time i'm becoming lay-pastor of a town centre church and i just met with the stewards from that church to talk about where we should be heading. Before we talked I gave them a paper about Emerging Church, which i thought was pretty good- though i'm not totally sure where i got it from. In the course of the conversation it became clear that they didn't really 'get it'... and the classic comment of the meeting was but how do we get people into 'normal church'. I'm not quite sure what 'normal church' is, but as far as i can see the emerging church movement is a lot more normal than the current church, which seems to be getting ever more abnormal!
