Well yesterday I was working doing pastoral work in the church cafe I refered to last week and i had an amazing chat with a church leaver from Darlington. She told me how she used to go to one of the more lively, popular churches in Darlo but that she'd found the relationships shallow and couldn't really see God in it all, so she'd left. Twelve months later this was her first time in a church and she smiled and said it was the best year of her life... which in turn made me smile!
It was nice chatting to Hilary. I directed her to the new beginner's guide bit of emergingchurch.info (especially the much loved Brother Maynard article) and she in turn encouraged me to download this e-book. Yes, the title ("So You Don't Want To Go To Church Anymore") isn't that catchy, yes the cover isn't that good, but surely a novel about a church leaver has to be worth a read... Has anyone out there read this already? Worth reading? I'll let you know my opinion as soon as it's finished!
