The De-churched Regular

I just read this great post on Yaz's blog about the de-churched. It's long, but well worth the effort.

I totally endorse all that Yaz writes in her post, especially her comments about the mainstream church's ignorance of the 'dechurched' and obsession with the 'unchurched'... and the whole thing got me thinking what am I? On paper I'm "the regular", in fact i should get double points coz i'm there every week, twice normally and that's just on a Sunday. But then I thought about it and actually no, i don't think i am the regular anymore.

Despite my faithful attendance in body, my mind and soul are unashamedly becoming increasingly dechurched. You see i might be there, but that's more out of habit than desire and so, to the authors of mission shaped church, i call for a sixth category "The Dechurched Regular", who goes week in week out but really is pretty tired of the whole thing and hopes to find a righteous way out soon...

Sue Wallace and Kester Brewin in one week!

Well the north of england is sometimes a wilderness in terms of all things emergent but in two weeks streams will gush forth as Sue Wallace and Kester Brewin lead seminars within a short train/car journey of Darlington.

On Tuesday 18th October, Sue Wallace is leading a seminar (see below) and on Thursday 20th Kester Brewin will present "only Connect..." the third blah to take place in the fine city of Manchester... wondering if i can feasibly go to them both???

For those who live in the north of the country, you might be interested to know that Sue Wallace (of Visions, York) is speaking at a SU training day on Tuesday 18th October in Bedale.
