As monastacism continues to be the focus of much attention, sad to read that Prinknash Abbey, a Benedictine Monastry in the Cotswolds is up for sale (if you register you can read the full report in the Telegraph here). The good news is it might not go to the highest bidder...
"Fr McLaughlin said that no decision had yet been made about what to do with the building, which dominates the surrounding countryside and which could fetch millions of pounds.
"While selling it for commercial use would be the most lucrative option, it would be a last resort, as "that isn't really what we are about", he added."
So if any of you emerging church enthusiasts out there are very wealthy, or know people in the right place, perhaps this might be an opportunity for some creative thinking!
On a similar note, I stumbled over this advert today...
"Tiger Aspect is looking for women to take part in a documentary series we are producing for BBC2, called 'The Convent'. Removed from the daily pressures of the world, the four chosen women will be encouraged to reflect on the lives they are leading, and conduct their own personal search for meaning and understanding. Volunteers, who will come from a variety of backgrounds and age groups, do not necessarily need to be religious, although they should be genuinely interested and committed to the idea. They need to be willing to cut off from the outside world for six weeks, from mid January to the end of February. Basic expenses will be covered during this period.
"The project follows on from 'The Monastery' (shown in May this year) in that it is a serious examination of spirituality, with equally high production values."
How very exciting!!!
