For me it was the most enjoyable read of the year. Theologically, it raised some relevant questions even if it was less than well informed on church history and theology.
It wasn't the bad Church history or the mindless repeating of Barbara Thiering's "the"ology I objected to... It is just an incompetently devised, badly executed, apallingly constructed pile of pulp! The only reason it got any sales was the controversial nature of the subject... I mean, who had heard of any of his other books before the DVC? I have actually read all 4... though I wouldn't bother, they all have exactly the same plot... Out of interest, Angels and Demons is the best of a bad bunch... but he makes Barbara Cartland look like Oscar Wilde!
I have read the book, and seen the trailer, and like you am looking forward to the film also!

I have read the book... not yet seen the trailer... but if it is as good as the book... it will be another night in watching the telly!

Still I'm also looking forward to the film.
