Fellow subscribers to the Howies blog will already be aware of this; Howies has been bought by Timberland.
I'm sure plenty of people will stick the knife in at this point (comparing it to Nestle, sorry L'Oreal buying Body Shop and/or Cadbury's buying Green and Blacks) but I have every confedence in Howies and every reason to believe this is a great move!
i am living in hope too, although i did read an article about how the timberland CEO is a big fan of outsourcing (mainy China) and is not very concerned about paying a fair wage. I emailed Howies with the quotes i'd read to ask them, but haven't had a response back yet...

hmm, i'm still out to jury on it. I think getting the investment they need is good but often these big companies have skeletons in dark closets, they seem to be keen to attach a little ethical company to themselves and be seen to be on the right bandwagon.
My concern is how much of their profits support their other unethical pratices? It's like the aid we give to africa being no where near what they pay us in debt interest. Looks good on paper, but what lies under the surface?
Maybe I'm just a cynic!
